My Experience

Before working in the mental health field, I was in the High-Tech Semiconductor industry for over 20 years troubleshooting and solving problems with equipment, worksites, and service teams. As a result, I am skilled in a unique blend of troubleshooting, problem-solving, and goal-setting methods that I now utilize in conjunction with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, EMDR, and other therapeutic modalities to assist clients, like you, in reaching their goals.

My Education:

I am a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, with a Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW). I have a Bachelor of Organizational Communication from St. Edward’s University in Austin. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). I have spent almost 20 years working in clinical settings. I am experienced with crisis management as well as assessment and clinical diagnosis (when required); planning and achieving long and short-term therapeutic goals, and assisting with developing coping skills to handle life’s ups and downs.

And now:

Thanks for reading all the way down to here. Your reward? A quick story about the Glorious Tree on my front page. It goes like this. Many years ago, I was at a gathering of men where a person was informing us of our ‘spirit’ animals. When it was my turn, I was skipped and was told she would get to me at the end. I admit I was a bit disappointed. She finally got back around to me. After everyone else had received their animal moniker, she said I was not an animal. I was a Giant Tree. I thought, “What? A tree?”. She then explained envisioning people coming to sit in the comfort of my shade, to rest, feel safe and share their stories. Well, after I thought about it, this did seem quite appropriate. So, come sit with me under the trees, relax, and share your story.
