Specialized Counseling for Young Adults | Austin, Texas
Psychotherapy, Counseling, Substance Abuse and Addiction Assessments, and Irlen Screening
What I do
I offer counseling, psychotherapy and sometimes coaching for teens, tweens, adolescents (and adults too). I believe everyone is unique. Our focus will match your specific needs. The ‘i to i‘ Counseling logo symbolizes two people, you and I, working together on resolving your concerns or issues. Negative life experiences make us hide and protect the curious, fun-seeking parts of ourselves. These are called coping skills. Coping skills can be positive or negative. Negative coping skills look like anger outbursts, defensiveness, depression or anxiety. Sometimes these lead to substance or alcohol abuse issues. If this has happened to you, You and I can develop appropriate coping mechanisms and hopefully return the fun back to your life. Let’s get started.
I really do remember what it is like to say you know everything and yet be so unsure. Life is so confusing. I remember feeling it sure would have been nice to have someone I could speak with who truly cared about me…other than my parents. However, now that I’m a bit older, I have to say that most parents are willing and able to speak with you if you give them a chance. Real talk, you are in a struggle for independence and yet you are dependant on others for what you need. I’d like to offer a safe place for you to talk this all out and think things through. Please give me a call or speak with your parents and then get in touch. To find out moreCLICK HERE.
As we grow up, we can develop ways of coping with life that are not helpful as adults. These coping skills protected us and served us in getting to this point in our lives. It is important to not be hard on ourselves for our actions or behaviors, but instead develop more positive and effective ways of dealing with others, life and the world. In particular, if you are a man looking for help, I know from experience this can be a very difficult step. I also know it takes much more strength and courage to reach out than to suffer alone. Don’t wait any longer. Be strong for yourself. For more informationCLICK HERE.
Are you caught in a power struggle with your teen, tween or young adult? This may be normal, albeit not very fun. Young people have a developmental task to separate from their parents. The struggle for independence is a genuine and important part of growing up. However, there are proven methods for developing and setting boundaries that can make this time in your family’s life much more manageable. Young people need to know they are loved and cared for. One way to demonstrate this is through healthy boundaries and being a positive role model. The truth is, for better or worse, you are the number one role model for your children. The sooner you and the younger members of your family work on developing a positive relationship, the better the results will be for the whole family. For more informationCLICK HERE.
